SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – Samsung Electronics unveiled its eighth-generation foldable lineup during the global Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, introducing three models: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant showcased refreshed hardware designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated artificial intelligence features across all variants. This announcement marks the debut of the Ultra label within Samsung’s foldable device range, aimed at enterprise users, with a record-thin foldable profile of 4.1 millimeters when open and weighing 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a new form factor, tipping the scales at 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone in the company’s lineup. It sports a 10:16 aspect ratio on the cover display and a 4:3 ratio on the main screen, allowing for versatile content display suitable for browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, support a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits under Vision Booster. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the device includes a 4,800 mAh battery.

To enhance durability while maintaining a slim profile, Samsung engineered its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for the premium foldables. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with a titanium support plate underneath to absorb impacts, distribute stress, and minimize screen creasing over many folding cycles. Recalibrated hinge mechanics, magnetic force, and display tension ensure smoother opening actions. An anti-reflective finish enhances outdoor visibility, helping preserve color vibrancy in bright environments.

    Enhanced Hardware and Multitasking Features

The flagship Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands its display area to an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen alongside a 6.5-inch cover screen. Designed for intensive multitasking and media production, the Ultra model packs a 200-megapixel main camera with High Dynamic Range, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor. For professional mobile videography, it supports 8K video recording with the APV video codec and includes Cine LUT color management tools for advanced editing workflows.

Inside, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an improved graphite cooling system engineered for better thermal dissipation during demanding tasks. It is powered by a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery and supports 45W dual-path fast-charging, efficiently distributing power across both cells. Users can choose configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, running on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

    Software Advancements and Market Launch

Alongside the larger foldables, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip8, a clamshell device measuring 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing 180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display, a 6.9-inch main screen, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. All three foldable models include AI-driven software features developed in collaboration with Google, such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge, which facilitate background automation, file summarization, and app navigation enhancements.

Global pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 series will begin immediately after the Unpacked event, with retail availability scheduled for August 7, 2026. Pricing starts at $1,899.99 for the base Galaxy Z Fold8, with the Ultra and Z Flip8 models receiving updated regional pricing. This launch underscores Samsung’s strategy to accelerate foldable market growth, targeting both premium consumers and enterprise sectors worldwide.
